This label came into being shortly after Arthue Godfry fired LaRosa and Bleyer on the air from his radio show. The Chordettes had their mega-hit of Mr. Sandman on Cadence.

I wonder what made Arthur Godfrey fire Julius La Rosa and Archie Bleyer? What did they do for him to fire them?
This reminds me of when Jack Benny fired Dennis Day on national TV on the air!

From Wikipedia "In the fall of 1953, Godfrey dismissed La Rosa on the air and later claimed the young singer "lacked humility," doing his own popularity considerable damage. That same day, Godfrey fired Bleyer, claiming he was offended when Bleyer recorded Chicago radio personality Don McNeill, host of Don McNeill's Breakfast Club."

Godfrey was a tough taskmaster and some say he was insecure and saw both LaRosa and Bleyer as a threat to his dominance. Bleyer was also dating one of The Chordettes, who he later married and Godfrey supposedly had a "no dating" policy among his employees.
