Comments about this label:

The Bluebird label is commonly thought to have been introduced with buff-label issue B-5000 in April, 1933. In reality it premiered in these extremely rare blue-on-black labeled pressings, made for F.W. Woolworth stores and issued in two blocs in 1932 and '33. (see update re 1932 bloc; it may not exist)

Updates: 1) There were apparently no BB issues until 1820 in January, 1933. Some discogs (ie Bolig) list BB 1800-1809 as 8" discs, identical in content with the superrare 8" Electradisk 1800-1809, test marketed in NYC in 1932. However no 8" Bluebirds have ever been found. 2) Numbers 1820-1853 were set aside for the 10" black on blue series - likely another test marketing venture - but possibly not all were issued. Latest known to me is 1829. 3) All titles released on (or slated for) the black on blue label also appeared on the B-series buff label. This suggests that indeed, many 1820-and-up numbers were not issued.
